Oh the irony!

Just came across this page in a search for a quote from our new patron: http://www.bible.ca/sola-scriptura-apostolic-fathers-athanasius.htm
The headline:
Sola Scriptura: The Bible alone is enough!

Apostolic Fathers used scripture as the primary defense against false doctrine.

So, if the "Bible alone" is enough, why are they appealing to the Early Church Fathers?

HA!

I guess hypocracy knows no bounds.

Plus, the quote reads that they used it as their "primary" defense. That assumes that they had other defenses besides scripture (i.e. Tradition!). Go figure.

The irony is pretty funny, that's for sure.

And moreover, it's not true. The Early Church Fathers used Tradition - that passed down to them of which the Scriptures are a subset - to weed out early heresies just as the Church does today.

Now for a good 'sola scripturist forerunner', you can't beat Arius. ;-)

BTW - glad to see you guys posting here. I look forward to many interesting reads!

Glad to have you around, Student. Love the Arius comment. I'll have to keep that one in mind next time I meet an SS'er. :D
