Got some great news today

I received an email from my RCIA director today. He has asked me to become a catechist. I was really exicted about this opportunity. I love teaching and what better topic to teach about that the Church and Christ.

I will either be a catechist for RCIA or adult faith formation. I don't really have a preference. Alhtough RCIA can be really interesting at times. However, AFF can be very lively and debate/discussion oriented.

So I will have to wait to see what happens.

God Bless!

That is sooo awesome! Congratulations! Will this be a full time job or part time? Just make sure you keep up with your studies and daily prayer. This is a huge responsibility with alot at stake...I know God will guide you.

Cool! I'd like to get involved in RCIA as well. I wish we had some sort of adult faith formation around here, too, but we do not. :(

None at all. We have a dwindling rosary society, and sometimes our pastoral minister will lead a study group during Lent, using the weekly Mass readings.

Most parishes don't have any adult formation. I'm surprised that you're surprised, Iggy. ;-) Even at our traddie chapel it's limited to monthly talks Fr. gives while the children are in CCD.

ROFL...I guess I am just to used to my priest. When he was here in Dallas we had weekly Catechims classes. Daily Bible classes, classes on the saints, classes on the sacraments, classes on certain encyclicals, marriage class...mind you ...these all took place every single week...in our marriage class we went through Humane Vitae..we had a class on the writings of Saint Louis de Montfort..way to many classes to count. Since our priest moved out to the country we have not had those classes but he was telling us the other day he is going to get someone to start these up again.

Adults have the Mass and devotions. They don't need no book-larnin'. ;-)
