Iggy's Letter...

Well, hehe...turns out I was using someone elses username! VERY STRANGE INDEED! I am posting a letter here I posted on the DCF board..I thought I did quite well not to gossip...did not mention names...titled it Please Ban Me. Well, ok...I mentioned Siggys name.. once or twice.

Dearest Friends, I am asking for the administration to please ban me from this board. I have no desire to be a part of it any longer. I used to love this place...up till a couple of weeks ago. I was on here all day long...and I love the people here as well. It is because of the administration that I refuse to stay a moment longer. Maybe we can call this my "swan song." lol. ( As we all know Jimbo would say:-)

It is with a heavy heart I write this...and much sadness...but please...I cannot take the gossip and hateful words from some people anymore. No more shall I remain silent in the face of slander. No longer shall I remain silent in the obstinate rudeness of certain people. There have been many good people on this board who have been banned in the last couple of weeks. One of the most recent was Mamamidwife "Bekah" who did nothing but associate with those who had been banned. Siggy says she does not care who we associate with apart from this board...but it is obvious she cares greatly.

I have been a member here since last August. I have never ever caused any problems...nor have I ever ever tried to cause any problems. God forgive those here who have allowed such hate to take place.

To one of the admins...I forgive you for your hateful emails and for the gossip which took place in a little private room that was once called Cancun. Cancun used to be a place where only Catholics would go...and discuss happenings on the board etc...but most recently it has been used for gossip and such.

My heart is indeed broken....but I shall no longer be silent and allow the enemy to make this his territory. Please, for all of thos wishing to join the Faith....remain strong in your search for Truth and let no one dissuade you...let no one stop you in your fight for the Prize! May God guide and bless each one of you. And to my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. Beware, for the enemy is indeed powerful. Be on the constant look out for his wiles...he is indeed deceitful...be strong in our Lord Jesus Christ and make Him the central part of your life...may He strengthen you each day of your life and guide you in all His ways. Sincerely in Christ, st_ignatius110 at hotmail dot com - Jeni

Can you still view the board, or did she completely ban your ip?

Ok..posted a bunch of stuff...but then realized I do not want to be held to the idea that I am a gossip.

No, I am totally banned...cannot even view the board. I am sure that is so gossip can reign and explanations can be given without my side of the story even being heard.

gossip about what?

Well, the people who are gone are good folks, and a month ago if you had asked the vast majority of baord members, "what do you think about X, X, an X" (X standing in for the names of bystanders) everyone would have agreed that those were honorable and kind posters.

I'm not claiming anyone thought that about me, mind you ;-)

Now they're part of an "opposition". Just last month there was another "opposition" at another place. Now those folks are back "in".

Does anybody get the idea that I'm right, the whole bloody thing needed revamping, or that one of my fellow admins was right, and it just needs to be shut down because it's doing more harm than good?

At 6:36 PM, Blogger dcs said...

You might both be right, of course.

One might point out that the board has done a lot of good. But then one might point out that some very bad things have happened because of the board. And I am not talking necessarily about the recent uproar. I finally see this clearly. Of course the bad doesn't cancel out the good, but it leaves one to wonder whether the board ought to continue as-is.

Well, at some point *someone* should look at the Catholic Answers message board system, and see why they did what they did.

hint, hint...they have jobs.

I don't know -- when the CA message board first went live I thought it was much worse than DCF. Have they cleaned up their act since then?

At 8:48 PM, Blogger Paul said...

Should be a simple solution. Demote Siggy and whatever other current admins might need to be demoted to keep peace and have everyone come back so long as everyone keeps their mouths shut. Since most of the normal posters don't know anything other than "There was a modfight", there won't be any problem for them.

Personally, I'm not sure why so many admins are needed. Past the website administrator and SR himself, there really doesn't need to be one, and everyone else should just be a mod. Maybe one additional admin if it takes an admin to ban, so that the bans are prompt.

At 8:52 PM, Blogger Paul said...

Minor note of clarification: In my idea, the demotions are only as part of a "No blame, everyone involved goes down" idea.

I don't think it will ever happen. I would love to eat my words. This whole thing is about someone trying desperately to hold on to power that she's (IMHO) incapable of wielding.

At 9:36 PM, Blogger Paul said...

Perhaps, but it would be SR's decision to make.

At 9:40 PM, Blogger Dropper said...

Indeed, but I lack faith in him as of a couple weeks ago...

St. Ignatius,

Why not send this exact same blog entry to Steve Ray? Maybe he will respond.

At 10:24 PM, Blogger Chad said...

David,

We've all sent him that kind of stuff and things with far more concrete evidence in them. He has ignored them at best, responded rudely and irrationally at worst.

At 10:26 PM, Blogger David Hopkins said...

What is the hope here - to create a kind of alternate DCF? Are you guys looking to eventually start a competing message board?

At 10:28 PM, Blogger Chad said...

I honestly don't know. We just needed some kind of outlet after we were so rudely dismissed from DCF. Personally, I'd love to patch things up and come back and moderate like before, but I can't do that as long as the host is being uncooperatively and his tainted administrator is still in place. I sorely miss the time I used to spent there.

At 10:34 PM, Blogger David Hopkins said...

Well that is shame...I saw St. Iggy's thread in the Pub inviting everyone to come over to this blog for a looksee. Obviously, it has been a HUGE eye opener. Hopefully, this can be rectified - it is a cliche, but time can heal wounds.

At 10:37 PM, Blogger Chad said...

Yeah, I know what you mean, David. Pass the word along about the blog if you feel like it. The past few weeks have been, to put it bluntly, sheer hell for most everyone involved.

At 10:46 PM, Blogger dcs said...

It does indeed take an admin. to ban. Mods can only moderate posts, not the posters themselves.

David and Paul,
I've tried to write this several times tonight...and it's failing the charity test completely, so I'll just say this: as long as SR owns that board and has not repented of his words against former board members, his failure to act against sin, and fostering an environment which knowingly allows sin to run rampant, I'll have nothing to do with it.

The problem is not Siggy. Siggy is a symptom, a trifle.

At 11:13 PM, Blogger Dropper said...

That's very true. There's a rot to that place that doesn't stop with Siggy.

Even if what SR was to get rid of Siggy it wouldn't ever be the same. Not for us. Not for a lot of people.

At 11:20 PM, Blogger Paul said...

Well, I've still got an open offer to set up a board on my site if you guys want one.

At 9:51 AM, Blogger David Hopkins said...

From a relative outsider like myself that is shocking. Obviously, a lot has gone on behind the scenes. I must admit that on the surface, that board is coasting along as if these problems never existed. There are obviously two sides to every story and I am not in any position to pass judgement one way or the other. I just have a hard time reconciling the SR described here with the one I saw crying on The Journey Home when describing his conversion to the Catholic Church. In case anyone is interested, there is a message board over at Catholic Outlook that seems to be lacking in traffic.

Hi David,
First of all, thank you for your kind words. I did what I did because I could no longer in good conscience continue on in silence..lol..I think we all know I am NOT that type of person.
I have corresponded with Mr. Ray quite extensively. I was asked to come back to the message board and that I would be welcomed. I told him I would have to think about it. I told him the real problem I have is that many good and faithful Catholics have been banned/left on their own accord. That to me, is a red flag indeed. I did wish to create a huge scene..lol..but I guess I did. What I did want to do is let people know why I was leaving...especially since I had been banned from the Conclave..or Torqumeada...or whatever it is called...with no prior warning and I knew the gossip about me would abound in there. This is why I asked that if anyone have a question about my character...please approach me.

Hehe...is this a trap?
I was posting letters, words, statements that have been made to me by Siggy...but I decided not to. I don't want to do that. What will it accomplish? Nothing.

Or..were you talking about what I said regarding gossip in the Conclave?

At 10:15 AM, Blogger st_ignatius110 said...

David,
I would also like to say this. Steve Ray was never hateful to me. He did use some harsh words with me...but I beleive they stemmed from a misunderstanding we had. We finally just quit discussing the issue because it was obvious neither of us was going to change our stance. Siggy told me I called Mr. Ray a liar. I have never done...nor will I ever. I have always had the utmost respect for him...but the problem is what is going on with the board needs to be nipped in the bud before Satan takes over. Mr. Ray was indeed offended when I told him that Satan was attacking him. I think he just took it the wrong way...I told him no need to be offended over that...as Christians Satan attacks every one of us. And what better place to attack then this message board since it has brought so many Home to the Faith? It was Mr. Ray's original board that helped my dh and I join the Church. We owe those people and Mr. Ray alot.

If it makes you feel any better, nothing has been mentioned there about you no longer being part of that forum or the board in general. Isn't it ironic that the mess (according to SR's post) originated because he had a problem with the mass bannings and many of you are now in a position of now being banned as well?

At 10:24 AM, Blogger Chad said...

And it's also ironic that there were no mass, arbitrary bannings.

At 10:40 AM, Blogger st_ignatius110 said...

David,
To be honest, it does not matter. But yes, I hate to admit it, it does make me feel better...lol...I'm a sucker for nice words..lol.
As for mass bannings, never saw that at all. If there was a mass banning it must have been people who never posted there!

David,
I understand your confusion and your feelings. I, too, had the utmost of respect for SR. When this thing started bubbling (and it is NOT about bannings, not a bit), I was hopeful that when he arrived home, he would take action to protect the board. That did not happen. And over the next few days, he proceeded to endorse the actions of a person who was committing grave sins against current (at the time) and former members. When confronted with her spread of vicious libel, he defended his choice and declared ignorance. Time and again, he has declared ignorance, when he has been shown exactly what has happened and what his chosen has involved herself in. I am not just talking about her actions that occurred years ago, I'm talking about actions that have occurred in the past few weeks. Actions which have injured people and reputations far worse than anything we have said here. Actions whose sole purpose was to soothe a smarting ego and inflict pain on others.

But loyalty means more to him than any other virtue. And not only has this overdeveloped sense of loyalty endangered his ministry and reputation, it is injuring the soul of she who he claims to be loyal to, because it is implicit permission to continue to endanger her immortal soul by protecting her from the legitimate temporal consequences of her actions.

I have prayed for that message board from the beginning of my involvement there. I will continue to pray for it. I am also praying for the reconversion of the administration over there, and by administration, I must make it perfectly clear that I include the owner of the board.

None of us are immune from the attacks of the adversary. We must all be vigilant and prepared. Likewise we cannot give anyone a pass on their sins, because they are "good" people or involved in good work. If we do not hold each other accountable in this world, we will experience far worse in the next. I pray daily that I will suffer my temporal consequences in this world and not the next. Shouldn't every Christian feel the same?

And before you ask, yes I have said all these things to SR. I believe all of us here have been in contact with him over this.

Not a trap. I just didn't know what you were talking about. Didn't know why you got banned from the conclave. Didn't know what caused you to write the swan song. Didn't understand the connection between your leaving and "gossip". So.. yeah, my question was: What gossip? Where gossip?

You said you were posting letters/statements from Siggy to you.. but I never saw such things. (Maybe that explains your apparent contradiction that you decided not to post such things)..

anyway, I was confused. Still somewhat am.

At 4:45 PM, Blogger dcs said...

Now I'm confused.

At 11:55 AM, Blogger st_ignatius110 said...

HAHAHAH...sorry guys.

I think the problem is I did not post the letters. I did not want to be the one gossipping. I did not know why I was banned from Cancun...Conclave...Torqumeada..
whatever its called now...lol..so I asked Siggy and she said I had an "agenda to push." She was making reference to the fact that I posted in The Pub a link to our site St. Isidores Quodlibeta. I was not sure what the problem was...except that when one of the guys asked why this was on another message board and not in the Lyceum I told him there were some banned people and it's hard to have book discussions when you are banned...lol. That's when I got knocked out of Cancun with an "agenda to push." My answer was that yes, I have an "agenda" to push, for lack of a better word...and that is bringing people home to the Church.
Anyways, enough on that I guess.

At 1:56 PM, Blogger dcs said...

I think the "agenda" rule is deliberately vague. Everyone has an agenda. The vagueness of the rule allows the administration to enforce it however they like.

At 11:36 AM, Blogger st_ignatius110 said...

LJD, I totally agree with that one. I am still not sure what my "agenda" was...lol...I guess it no longer matters.
